The Technology Fund is a political instrument of the Swiss government's climate strategy, and is rooted in the CO2 Act of 23 December 2011. The Climate Division of the Federal Office for the Environment FOEN is responsible for its strategical implementation. The operational implementation has been outsourced to an external agency.
The operational management of the Technology Fund is carried out by Emerald Technology Ventures, along with subcontractor South Pole Group. Together, they make up the management agency of the Technology Fund, which assesses the applications and gives recommendations to the expert committee. The management agency is the public representative of the Technology Fund.
The expert committee is made up of seven members, two of whom work in the federal administration. This committee makes decisions as to whether to grant guarantees based on the recommendations of the management agency. The committee members together boast many years' experience in innovation, technology, finance and risk management.
The Technology Fund does not finance companies directly. Instead, it provides loan guarantees to banks or other suitable lenders. The lenders' contractor is the Swiss Confederation, represented by the Federal Office for the Environment FOEN. Interested lenders should get in touch with the management agency if they wish to be listed here as potential funding partners.
